Edward (“Indian Ned”) Gunstocker Site (44KG0248)

“Gunstocker was a Nanzatico man who owned land on the north side of the Rappahannock River in the Portobago Bay vicinity. His last name suggests he served as a gunsmith in the 1670s and 1680s and is, along with other archaeological sites in this area, key to understanding the trading post that developed here in the late 17th century.”
