Paris: Week One, Day Three
Saturday, July 1
Today was a do nothing kind of day. I laid in bed until waaaaaay after lunch time. In fact, I didn’t leave the room until after 5pm. Note that I’m not really eating or drinking much these days. Sleep is taking over my life as jetlag hits me hard. I pretty much spent the day editing videos. It took hours just to create a 30 minute video. I had to edit all the stuff I recorded, find rights to music, create a YouTube intro and outro, and all those little things that lead to a decent social media following. This is just the beginning. I plan to continue to update and post on social media even after this Paris trip is over. I’m pretty amateur right now, but I know the videos and such will improve over time.
Because this post is mostly words, here are some random art “installations” that caught my attention during my explorations in Paris.
Here, I want to say that this week was quite difficult. I’m not sure why, but jetlag was awful. I’m going to blame it on not getting to sleep on the plane. My videos this week were just an exhausted me, trying to get through the ups and downs of travel. You might also notice that my posts and videos often point out the “bad” things I experience. I put "bad” in quotation marks because these things aren’t really bad. I’m just being realistic. I focus on what is. I’m not presenting a glamorized version of my experience for social media likes. I do not sugar-coat things or pretend they are better than they are. When it is good, I say so. And when it’s not, I say so. Hopefully, you can take these posts, videos, and other media in with the intention I have of presenting my REAL experience here in Paris.
Yes, I love the place, but it is NOT all roses.
On another note, why is my face so close to the camera???? LOL. You’ll see what I mean when you watch the video. Overall, this was a good week. I accomplished a lot in three-ish days. I’m mostly settled in, having the necessities. I’m making mental, physical, and emotional adjustments as I go. And I’m beginning to enjoy blogging and vlogging about my journey. At first, it felt like a chore because I was so tired. I can only imagine that next week will bring even better things as I create a routine for myself and start to focus on my studies.
And NOW, what you’ve all been waiting for! A video of my first week in Paris. NOTE: Why did I almost type China there? Weird.
WARNING: The video is age restricted due to my short discussion of the recent riots in Paris.
